Always have a place to stay when you're out on the trail
On most trail events that last overnight, a tent makes for an adequate place to sleep under the stars. If however, youre planning on a 3,000 mile trip, like the one we took during the ARB Outback Adventure a tent might also be an inviting accommodation for rats, spiders and scorpions too.
In fact, we did come across quite a few spiders and scorpions in some of the locations we chose to camp and you can imagine how relieved I was to be sleeping high above the ground. It certainly would have been great given the scenery of the outback to have been able to just hop in your sleeping bag for the night but the rooftop tent certainly came in handy.
Fortunately, ARB has introduced a Rooftop Tent that is compact and easy to use. When thinking about a rooftop Tent, the first things that come to my mind are space, ease and durability. Ive been a tent camper for many years and after experiencing the ARB Rooftop Tent, there are definitely a lot of benefits to making your bed above ground.
For example, with a rooftop tent on your vehicle, you have now eliminated extra gear such as sleeping bags, pillows, cots or air mattresses from being stored inside your vehicle. This frees-up a lot of usable space. The ARB rooftop tent comes with a very comfortable, 2.5 inch high-density foam mattress allowing you to simply throw your sleeping bags and pillows right in there.
During the ARB Outback Adventure we had some first hand experience with the tent and found that it was easy to install on the top of your vehicle and to prepare it for sleeping once you reach your destination. There are no complications and the tent is lightweight, due to its aluminum frame. The ARB Rooftop tent is stowed right on your vehicles roof rack and doesnt require any drilling, making it easy to remove when necessary.
The tent also seemed very durable and is made from high quality poly-cotton. It is waterproof, breathable and mold resistant; all great features to have in a portable accommodation.
ARB, the company behind the product, isnt new to the 4x4 world. In fact they have already established themselves as a leader in four-wheeling products and accessories. Its their experience in the Outback and on off-road trails that led them to develop the Rooftop tent which adds convenience and portability to any off road adventure. The tent retails around $1540 which isn't cheap, but it beats sleeping on the ground or a seedy hotel room and you're always insured of having a place to stay no matter where you are.
