The Final Score for 2007 Tundra Sales Comes In At 196,555 Units Sold
Okay, so back at the first of the year when it was announced that Toyota set a goal to sell 200,000 new model Tundras in 2007, some people scoffed while others thought it just might be doable. Personally I thought it was a lofty mark to meet, but I'm not employeed by Toyota and obviously am not privy to all those sales and marketing information strategies they have. I think most Tundra owners were rooting for the Big T to hit, or even surpass the mark. After the November sales numbers were posted, it was obvious to most that it would very tough for Toyota to make the goal they set. Oddly enough the sales trend didn't buckle under seasonal consumer pressure, nor the falling sales trend of trucks in general.
Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. reported today that it sold a total of 196,555 Tundra units in 2007. While someone up the Toyota food chain probably isn't going to get his bonus, that number of units sold is still pretty darn impressive. There is no doubt the great incentives that Toyota was offering for the Tundra helped get buyers to ink a deal. And even with some first year technical and design snafu's the Tundra still almost hit the mark. Either way this is still a pretty historical event in truck history. It has been a long time since a truck has come onto the scene and caused such an intense level of disucussion and arguements by enthusiasts of other makes.
Congratulations Toyota for selling so many Tundras. Sure it wasn't 200,000 units, but it sure was close.
